Copa Iba 2007

Copa Iba 2007 was held on 14th Jul 2007 at Real Sports Arena, Klang. This year our team was 46 persons strong. Although most of us had to wake up as early as 5 a.m. just to get to church on time, we were pretty excited when we sighted the big express bus that was to take most of us to our destination. The rest of us went by car and some of us even managed to have roti canai in the car on the way too.

We had four teams: (1) Futsal under 23 (2) Futsal under 15 (3) Captainball under 23 and (4) Captainball under 15.

One of the players for our under 23 Futsal team looked pretty much like Ronaldo and played quite like him too. Another of our under 23 captainball players is so tall he reminded us of Yao Ming. All in all, we had pretty strong teams and played our best.

We got to the quarter finals both in under 23 Futsal and also for under 15 Captainball. Our journey ended at the quarter finals but we were satisfied from having played good games with the teams from other churches.

It was a great day which ended by us all bundling back onto the bus again, this time knowing each other a little better, sharing jokes and some very memorable visuals with each other via bluetooth!

We especially would like to thank our friends who so willingly came to be part of us for the games & strengthened our team spirit! We'll be having a reunion "makan" session to pick up where we left off so do keep a lookout on this blog 'cos we'll be announcing the date soon!

Hell's Bells Series

We will be running a documentary series on rock 'n'roll music called "Hell's Bells" over the next 4 Sundays from 29th July 2007 at 11:15 a.m. at TTDI Gospel Centre.

Here's a short transcript of what this series is all about:

"What is wrong with this man? Is this just a good time or is there something of a deeper significance going on here as well? What type of effect does this music have upon people? Is it only rock 'n' roll?
These questions and others will be answered as Hell's Bells takes you on a journey to the heart of rock 'n' roll. You'll discover what it can do to an egg. Your head. Your life. And your eternal soul. We'll explore rock's relationship to sex, violence, suicide, drugs, rebellion, and, most importantly, the occult. As Dr. Alan Bloom noted in his best-selling book The Closing of the American Mind, "Nothing is more singular about this generation than its addiction to music." Incredibly, despite this unprecedented power and the mounting evidence that rock's influence can be less than positive, most people have never stopped to consider what is really going on in and through contemporary music. Why is music so powerful? How does it affect us? What is its source? And to where is it leading us? "

Want to know more? See you at 11:15 a.m. this Sunday!
