Weeds

There was once a very young boy. He was given an assignment by his primary school teacher to grow a sunflower for a science project. The teacher gave each of them a few sunflower seeds and off they went. Excited, as this was his first time, he watched the little pot that he planted his seeds in everyday. Not before long, he began to see some weeds growing in it. Now the little boy had learn about weeds in class and the dangers they brought to the plants surrounding them. His teacher had already warned the class to pull them out if seen, but the little boy thought to himself, "Ah, they're so small. I'm quite sure nothing will happen. Besides, they make the pot look cooler. How much damage could these little things do?".

And so he left them there to grow alongside the sunflower. The time finally came for everyone to present their sunflowers. All the students displayed their sunflowers with big smiles on their faces. All, except the little boy. He noticed his sunflower was smaller and duller looking compared to the rest and then only did he realise his mistake. The weeds.

Our role here on Earth is like that sunflower in the pot. Often times we sprout weeds in our life without even knowing it. These weeds could come in the form of anything ranging from a relationship, to a new gaffer, to even work/studies. These things are not weeds themselves but have potential to become them. Basically anything that robbed the sunflower of it's needs were considered weeds, whether they were other small flowers or grass, because they were not what was suppose to be grown in that pot. Paying too much attention to these things turn them into weeds which rob us of our time, energy and focus on the race that we have been called out for. Christ died for so much more than us getting distracted by the world. He died so that we may live! It is our responsibility to always be on the lookout for weeds, so that they can be removed. The longer they are left there, the harder they are to remove as it already has a deep hold in our lives.

So what are the weeds that need to be removes in your life today?
