Salt & Light: His story.

Matthew 5:13-16

"You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men.

"You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people
light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.

Have you ever wondered what people would say about you when you leave the world?

I have often wondered if my presence in the world would be missed when I left it. Whether I would have made any impact on the lives of others and whether the impact was any good. Would people actually remember and miss me? And what would they remember and miss?

I was talking to a friend yesterday and the topic turned to my late uncle. She told me that she had never cried so much during a memorial service before even though she had only met him twice or three times. It struck me how deeply his life could touch people, even those who did not know him that well.

Even after so long, I am constantly reminded of him. He was one of those people who did not judge anyone, who was always kind and concerned and caring no matter what. He didn't try to be someone he wasn't and he lived his life for the Lord. Even in the final months of his life when his health was getting worse, he still lived for the Lord. He fought his battle hard and never gave up.

We never know when we will leave this earth. So don't take life for granted. Live your life to the fullest. But not just for anyone but for God.

Of course it is extremely difficult to live lives completely for the Lord. But is that any excuse for us to stop trying? One of our speakers Mr Julius Evanson said: just because something is difficult, doesn't mean that it is bad. Not every trial and temptation is a bad thing.

James 1:2-3

Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance.

I just want to encourage us to do our best for the Lord. To live for Him, for no one and nothing else. Always remember that we belong to Him. We have no right to live the way we want to. We do not own our talents, possessions etc. Everything belongs to Him. So, don't ever give up when trials come. Because in the end, it will all be worth it ;D

Have a great week! God bless :)
